The Smart Wand 2 by LELO
The LELO brand is famous for its high-end and luxurious sex toys. Their design is abstract, often combined with shinny, either gold or silver elements resembling metal and is meant to look like a stylish item that can stand alone in your house, without it being recognised as a sex toy.
The Smart Wand 2 was pretty high on our wish-list since we are fans of the European Magic Wand vibrator, as well as of the LELO brand. This toy certainly has many good things going for it, from its gorgeous sleek futuristic look and luxurious feel to it providing wireless deep rumbly vibrations. However, there is one significant downside to it as well, the smart function is not working as well as one would hope.
The Smart Wand 2, is initially advertised as a body massager, meant to “help you free the tension in your body by releasing stress and relaxing your muscles”. This powerful massager offers ten different massage patterns. It is made out of a fabulous silky soft silicone (some of the most luxurious ones in the market), as well as PC and ABS materials. It measures 304 x 80 x 60 mm / 11.97 x 3.14 x 2.36 inch and weighs 383 g / 0.84 lb. Its Li-Ion battery comes with the strength of 1200/1050mA 3.7V. It is USB rechargeable and you will need to charge it for 2.5 hours to be able to use it for 4 hours. It has an easy to use interface which consists of three buttons that are easy to press and spot, as they light up while being pressed.
First, we’d like to say a few words about body massage function. We own the Beurer MG100 body massager and we can certainly understand why LELO would advertise the Smart Wand 2 as belonging to the same type of devices. It offers powerful vibrations that feel like they can penetrate into the centre of your muscle tissue. Another of its advantages is that it is lightweight which makes it easy to hold with one hand when massaging yourself. Its handle has a curve that makes it lovely to hold as well as to reach various body parts.
We are impressed by the performance of this toy. For being wireless, it offers pretty strong vibrations. On top of this, it is waterproof and can fully support our mermaid fantasies. It’s vibrating patterns are super fun. We especially love the ones that start low and slowly progress. Because the vibrations are so deep and profound, this feels like your body is being slowly awakened and shaken up from your very core. It also feels lovely and luxurious in your hands and warms up quickly.
However, on the less positive side. Even though this is the 2.0 version, the smart function still needs to be perfected. It is supposed to start vibrating more when pressed against a body part (it only reacts to body parts and not just any surface). However, we could not consciously activate the smart function. If we follow the instructions, the toy turns off. Instead of vibrating stronger when pressed against a body part, the vibrations hamper out, which as you can imagine can be rather annoying. Nevertheless, this is not a game-changer for solo play, as you can simply grind against it less forcefully.
While it works great for solo play, couples play is not really what we expected it to be. By just looking at its smooth and organic shape, we assumed that this wand would be very enjoyable to place between two bodies. However, in reality, its curved handle that comes so handy during solo play is not supporting two bodies to rub against each other comfortably. It is awkward to place when we are lying on top of each other and we cannot reach both clits at the same time.
The big question is, how does it compare to the Europe Magic Wand? A comparison is somewhat difficult to make, as the Smart Wand delivers deeper and rumblier vibrations, while the Magic Wand delivers more powerful vibrations. The head of LELO is harder and narrower than the one of the Magic, which makes it even more challenging to hit both clits at once. Furthermore, the neck of the Smart Wand is not quite as flexible as that of the Magic. Finally, Magic is a much better option for couples play. Although we were initially very impressed by its capabilities, after a few tests, we have concluded that we won't be throwing the Magic out just yet.
The Smart Wand 2 is available in black, lilac and turquoise blue colours, combined with the metallic gold part. As an all-body massager, it is a great toy to take on your travels. To make that as smooth as possible, it has a travel lock and comes in a convenient and lovely stretch satin travel pouch.
