Petting Hippo by Satisfyer
The Satisfyer company is well known for developing hip toys in fun packaging at competitive prices. They became famous with their air pulse technology clitoral stimulators, which resemble a similar toy of the well-known brands such as the Womanizer.
We were excited to try the Petting Hippo, partially because we are big fans of G-spot curved dildos and partially because of its adorable appearance. When it first arrived we were positively surprised by the generous dimensions, a handle for extra comfort and extra reach as well as the super cute packaging. Unfortunately, however, the Hippo did not meet our expectations as we got to the actual use. We gave it a fair amount of opportunities to prove itself, but after the third test, we had no choice but to admit defeat.
This toy measures approximately 23 (insertable lenght: 16) x 4.5 cm, or 9 (insertable lenght: 6.3) x 1.8 inches. According to what we have measured ourselves, which was inconvenient, since we are used to finding this information online. It has 12 modes of vibration, is waterproof, and USB rechargeable. It comes with an impressive 15-year warranty. It is made from a combination of ABS plastic and skin-friendly silicone. Since the toy industry is not regulated, we are not exactly sure what the latter means and how it compares to the toys marked as body-safe. So both of these terms are ambiguous, at best, but safer to use than the toys not bragging about their silicone not meeting either one of the standards.
We each had three goes with the Petting Hippo. Unfortunately, instead of learning how to like it more, as it sometimes happens when we are testing toys, our dislike for this toy grew with each test. We have identified two significant design flaws that we could not get over. First, its extreme curve aiming to pet your G-spot, is in fact, too severe for us. Although we are normally massive fans of G-spot vibrators, we both felt discomfort when trying to insert this one. It was painful to use, no matter how much lube we used and how aroused we were. Second, Petting Hippo’s ears feel like they can scratch you, especially while inserting the toy. We are not sure whether they actually damage your vagina as we did not find any traces left. Nevertheless, one of us could not help being paranoid about it and fantasising about cutting its ears off. Let us tell you that it is rather challenging to enjoy yourself and orgasm if you are paranoid about your insides being scratched. We don’t wish for anyone to have this experience.
That being said the Hippo does have some positive features. The vibrator is very powerful and the vibrations can be felt throughout the entire shaft. This is beneficial for stimulating the clit externally. We found it particularly enjoyable to place the Hippo’s nose inside our vaginas while rubbing our clits against its vibrating body. The vibrations are strong enough to provide stimulation to the point of climax. However, we do regret that, for us, the fun stopped there, instead of progressing towards deeper penetration. Other pros of the toy include the handle which makes it very easy to use and hold and that and that the buttons are easy to press while also having a little dent so you can find them in the dark. For its optimal longevity, the toy should be used with a water-based lube, and should be stored away from other toys. It is easy to clean since it is waterproof, however, you will have to pay extra attention to its wrinkly neck, which is a great spot for accumulating joy juices.
Even though we personally cannot recommend this toy, there are other toys in colourful and fun designs from the same Satisfyer collection that you may want to try out.
